Looting of Fort Battleford

This military event was more of a desparate attempt by the Anishinabe people to get food. A group of Anishinabe soldiers made their approach to the Fort Battleford region, which the white civilian population quickly learned about. After learning about the Anishinabe soldiers presence, the white civilians fled to the safety of Fort Battleford. What followed was the looting of the white stores and homes around Fort Battleford. Anishinabe soldiers took as much food as they could carry and killed anywhere from 1 to 6 whites. This event occurred on March 30, 1885 in Saskatchewan.
