September 8, 1756 Kittaning Raid
Not to be ones who did not dare to venture into Indian territory to carry out military expeditions, a force of English Soldiers trekked from eastern Pennsylvania, to a little towards central and northern Pennsylvania, to carry out raids on Anishinabek who lived there. Kittaning Raid was a part of Pontiac's War. A list of Battles of Pontiac's War is above. It was those Ojibways in Pennsylvania who were constantly attacking them unwanted white settlers in eastern Pennsylvania, that were targeted. That English military expedition was organized to retaliate or to attempt to stop brave Anishinabe Soldiers, from killing whites. After them 300 English Soldiers reached village of Kittaning, they learned that a great majority of that villages inhabitants managed to escape, but a small force remained behind under leadership of Chief Jacobs. Some Indians confined themselves to a building and after whites learned of that mistake, they used their gunpowder to blow up that building. Though whites destroyed that village, they received higher casualties. Around 9 Indians were killed. White casualties were a total of 49, with 17 of them killed, another 13 wounded, and another 19 missing in action, but probably captured then later executed by enraged Anishinabek. Kittaning Raid happened on Wednesday September 8, 1756.
