Massacre Near Yellowstone Lake

After Battle of Heart Mountain, American Soldiers led by Colonel Miles and their Dakota allies, went searching for Anishinabek who escaped capture. They found a large number of them camped just southwest of Yellowstone Lake. A battle followed in which 1 Anishinabe was killed. Many Ojibways surrendered after that battle but American Soldiers and their Dakota allies who were more than willing to help whites exterminate themselves, thought rather to kill those Anishinabek they captured. They killed at least 28 Anishinabe People who surrendered. Much of Yellowstone National Park is within Blackfeet Reservation.
