November 12, 1758 Raid on German Flatts

At a recently constructed village named German Flatts, which is located in New York about 3.5 miles south of Herkimer, and occupied by a couple of hundred invading Germans, a force of brave Ojibway Soldiers were ordered by their military commanders to approach then surround that small unwanted white village. It was their intention to destroy that unwanted new white village. At around 3 a.m. on Sunday November 12, 1758, orders were sounded to attack German Flatts. Within a short time, 40 white Germans had been killed and many more had been captured to be either outright killed later on or enslaved, and many more managed to flee to nearby Fort Herkimer to escape from that massacre occurring back at German Flatts. After bringing that unwanted white village under their control, Ojibway Soldiers destroyed it. Raid on German Flatts was a part of Pontiac's War. Above is a list of Battles of Pontiac's War.
