Spafford Farm Massacre

This battle was fought on June 14, 1832 near where present day South Wayne, Wisconsin is situated. A force of 6 American Soldiers were ordered by their commander at Fort Hamilton, to march to a farm (Spafford Farm) to help out some white settlers who were in need of farm help. Before the small force of American Soldiers could reach the farm, they were ambushed by a force of Anishinabe Soldiers. Anishinabe Soldiers killed 4 of the 6 Americans but 2 of the Americans managed to escape with one of them actually killing an Anishinabe Soldier. One of the Americans safely reached Fort Hamilton around the same time Colonel William S. Hamilton and some supposed Menominee Anishinabek who supposedly volunteered to support the whites, did.
