Kansas Kickapoo Ojibway's receive $1.24 Million Grant

Grant money totaling $1,244,972 was awarded to the Kickapoo Ojibway Reservation in northeast Kansas. This grant money was provided by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The money will go to the Kickapoo Native Connections Program over the next 5 years. Intentions are for helping young people stay out of trouble. It's not known if these Ojibway's are native to Kansas or migrated to Kansas from the Great Lakes region. However, Lewis and Clark reported in their journals Eastern Indians Estimates, that Ojibway People were living from Texas to Kansas in 1805. It's likely these Ojibway's are both native to the Kansas region and also from those Ojibway's that migrated to Kansas in the 18th and 19th centuries.
