Man Drowns At Marcel Colomb First Nation

Hughes Lake is adjacent to the Ojibway Kasba Reserve community of Marcel Colomb which is located in north Manitoba. Three men were boating on Hughes Lake on Wednesday August 5, 2020 when their boat capsized sending the three men into Hughes Lakes cold waters. Police from nearby Lynn Lake were called to the scene and pronounced a 59 year old man deceased. His two companions (both aged 24) helped him out of Hughes Lake and tried saving him. However, there was little they could do. Police reported neither of the three men wore life jackets. An investigation into the drowing continues. Marcel Colomb is also known as Black Sturgeon.
