Isabella Reservation of Michigan
Located in central Michigan, is Isabella Reservation which has been horribly violated by the United States. Below is a map of where Isabella Reservation must be located and links to google earth photos of one of their town sites. It is one of the worst examples of American criminal activity. Historically, the creation of this Reservation can be traced back to the end of the War of 1812. After the Ojibwa Nation had been defeated in that war, a series of treaties followed in which Ojibwa leaders ceded much of their land to their American and Canadian enemies. In 1836 and after, treaties were signed between the Ojibwa Nation and the United States, which set aside temporary (5 years) Reservations for the Ojibwa's of southern Michigan. Ojibwa leaders would not have tolerated temporary Reservations. Those treaties are invalid. It took another 20 years before Isabella Reservation of Michigan was created. That happened on August 2, 1855. Although most Ojibwa People of Michigan did follow prophesy and migrate west and north, many stayed at Michigan. American leaders did not want them leaving Michigan. Seven Fires Prophesy was known by American leaders then and preventing west migrations was mandatory.
In 1785, a vast Ojibwa Reservation was created at Ohio and Michigan and a very small area at Indiana where Fort Wayne is. In 1804 or 1805, American leaders used non authentic Ojibwa leaders or non Ojibwa leaders to sign an agreement to cede a portion of the vast Ojibwa Reservation. The illegally ceded Reservation land was located from where Cleveland is and to the west and south. Then in 1807, another illegal agreement ceded Reservation land from where Toledo, Ohio is on up to Detroit. Those illegal Reservation land cessions led to the vicious War of 1812. Ojibwa's of Isabella Reservation are descendants of Ojibwa's from the vast Ojibwa Reservation located at Michigan and Ohio. It was eradicated after the War of 1812.
1838-1839 Ojibwa Exodus
Knowing full well about the evil and selfish intentions of invading whites, Ojibwa leaders knew Ojibwa People would eventually be surrounded by whites. They also knew they were not to trust whites, especially white leaders. They rejected treaties on bounds of deceit. In response to their predicament, Ojibwa leaders ordered around 100,000 or more Ojibwa People of southern Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana to pack their belongings, to commence an exodus west because they knew from Prophesy that if they didn't move they would be destroyed by the evil white race. Around 5,000 died on their exodus. Of course, Ojibwa's of central and southern Michigan now, will admit that Prophesy was correct. 1838-1839's Ojibwa Exodus which whites have named Cherokee Trail of Tears, was not the last exodus Ojibwa's carried out.
Black River and Swan Creek Chippewa's
They are also known as Saginaw (it's derived from River Mouth's or Sa-gin which means River Mouth's) Ojibwa's. We know they are Shawnee Ojibwa's! There are Black River and Swan Creek Chippewa's at Kansas, Michigan, Montana, Oklahoma and Ontario. After Ojibwa's of central and southern Michigan left for Kansas in 1838-1839, those who remained behind, continued to live throughout their original homeland. And they continued to present themselves as a hostile threat to whites. On August 2, 1855 a treaty was agreed upon by Ojibwa leaders and the United States, which established a Reservation for them. It is known as Isabella Reservation. It is supposedly located in Isabella County, Michigan. It covers 6 townships or 138,240 acres or 55,944.0 hectares. From researches pertaining to how England signed treaties with Ojibwa People, I'm certain American leaders did likewise. It's obvious! Ojibwa leaders considered 1 mile to be 1 league or 3 miles. For each specific group of Ojibwa's, they counted their numbers or did a census. After calculations for each specific group, they allotted land to each individual. It was anywhere from 160 acres to 640 acres per individual. It depended on land quality. If it was farmland they were allotted less land. If it was desert, forested or wetlands, they were allotted much more land as a result of it's poor quality. Ojibwa leaders demanded land whites didn't want and that all allotments be in compact form. Isabella Reservation of Michigan, is located from Mt. Pleasant to just west of Midland then northeast to Saginaw Bay. It extends northwest to Grand Traverse Reservation then southeast to Mt. Pleasant. Nearly all land is either woodlands, wetlands or land considered worthless. Trying to determine Isabella Reservations Ojibwa population is very difficult. As mentioned, American leaders have violated this Reservation. Therefore, no demographics will be provided!
