Ardoch Algonquin First Nation These Anishinabek are recognized as being non status. What that means is, they claim they never signed any treaties with the whites, which ceded their land to the whites, stopped any wars they fought against the invading whites, and accepted subjugation. In other words they are an independant nation. Although Canada refers to the Proclamation of 1763 as being the document in which the Algonquins ceded their land (that includes in Quebec) to England, that is bogus. The size of the Ardoch Algonquin Nation is 8,900,000 acres or 13,906 sq. mi. It is located in the Canadian province of Ontario, north of Lake Ontario, between Georgian Bay and the city of Ottawa. They even claim the land the city of Ottawa is situated on. Their struggle is ongoing and is one in which their ogimak bravely stand up against another nation (Canada) which is extremely hostile towards the Ardoch Algonquin Nation.
When the Canadians attempt to trespass on Ardoch Algonquin land to search for minerals or harvest the trees which are scattered throughout the Ardoch Algonquin Nation, the chances will be good the Ardoch Anishinabek will use peaceful protests (they have no army and weapons) to prevent Canada from exploiting their nations resources. Canada has imprisoned Ardoch leaders for staging peaceful protests (usually road blockades) in the past, which is not proving to the world that they are an honorable and law obeying nation. Canada refuses to recognize the Algonquin Nation of Ontario, which means their policies are extremely corrupted.
Historically, the Algonquin Ardochs were constantly at war against the invading whites (both English and French) from the 16th century to the early 19th century. Prophesy was the force which ignited the Ardoch Algonquins to battle the invading whites. When the whites first sailed into the Saint Lawrence in the early 16th century, the Algonquins were living in the area between Montreal and Quebec City and not an Iroquois Tribe as some white historians have claimed. The Algonquin also claimed most of present day New York State, including all of the Adirondack Mountains. They also claimed the region just south of Albany all the way to Oswego. They also claimed parts of extreme western Massachusetts, northern Vermont, northern New Hampshire and northwestern Maine. In Canada, they claimed all of Quebec north of Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont. They claimed all of Quebec just north and northwest of Quebec City, to where Chibougamau is located, then straight up in a northwesterly manner, to where Eastmain is situated next to James Bay. They also claimed land where Lake Nipissing is, on up to the western shores of James Bay.
The Ardoch are the Algonquins who lived between Georgian Bay and Kingston, which is situated north of Lake Ontario. They also inhabited lands just south of Lake Nipissing to Ottawa. They may also have been the Anishinabek who claimed land in New York State, western Maine, western Massachusetts, northern New Hampshire and northern Vermont. They were obviously the most hostile Canadian Anishinabe people towards the invading whites. Their nation is still intact, though it is not recognized by other nations as being an independant nation. However, the facts tell the world that the Ardoch Nation (that must include the Algonquins of Quebec to) is a reality. Most recent population estimates for the Ardoch Algonquin Nation is over 7,000, which makes the total Algonquin population, imcluding the Nipissing, to be over 20,000. Below is a list of the present Ardoch bands.
