Cowichan Indians

These people are a mixture of Ojibway and Salishan. They were civilized before whites invaded. Below are google earth photos of one of their villages which is adjacent to Duncan, British Columbia. Whites have forced Ojibway's to lose their Ojibway identity among this group of people which probably includes a small or significant Chinese and Filipino percentage. Historically, prophecy driven Ojibway Soldiers forced their way westwards about 2,000 years ago, after becoming aware of Seven Fires Prophecy which told them to search for a turtle shaped island and food that grew on water, and if they did not move they would be destroyed by a race of people who would be of light complexion. After invading British Columbia and Washington, Ojibway Soldiers quickly subdued most Indians of that region. By 17th century, Cowichan Tribes had made their first contacts with whites and that is likely when their population decline commenced. Today, Cowichan people live on Vancouver Island in 7 villages. They are: Kwamutsun; Qwumyiqun; Hwulqwselu; Samuna; Lumlumuluts; Hinupsum; and Tlulpalus. I will not give their Reserve sizes being they are scant and can't support their attempts at taking care of themselves. Cowichan People are British Columbia's largest Indian band yet they are number one example of what is going to happen if you don't follow prophecy. On-Reserve population of Cowichan People is 2,451 according to a 2015 estimate. These people are history. They will not survive as a race. Why? Their villages are adjacent to white cities. Canada is forcing them to assimilate. Canadian leaders will be charged with Genocide and horrically punished in a future era or about 1,000 years in a future era. They can stop this Genocide if they want. It's up to them. Ojibway leaders must force Cowichan People to relocate far away from white settlements, if Cowichan People are going to survive.
