General Harmar ordered his 1500 soldiers (originally 3000 soldiers were
raised but by the time of the two Harmar battles it was reduced to 1500) to separate, which the
Three Fires Confederation learned about quickly. Some 200 of Harmars soldiers were given orders
to carry out an military expedition against Indian villages, but the Three Fires Confederation
knew of their movements and planned an ambush. In the (1782-1794)Northwest Indian War battle
that followed, the victorious Three Fires Confederation inflicted 150 or more casualties
(around 70 were killed) on the invading American military force.
