All or nearly all Reservations are Ojibwa Reservations. During the 19th and early 20th century, American leaders forced Ojibwa children to attend white controlled boarding schools where they were forced to stop speaking their Ojibwa Language, cut their hair and dress as Europeans do. American leaders reached treaty agreements with Ojibwa leaders in the 18th century and 19th century that created very large Ojibwa Reservations. White settlers forced their way to the large Ojibwa Reservations and demanded the Reservations. That led to intense hostilities between Ojibwa's and whites. American leaders almost always sided with white settlers. Most of the large Ojibwa Reservations were eradicated! Great Sioux Reservation was the conception of Ojibwa author George Copway who lectured at large American cities during the 1840's and 1850's for a large Ojibwa Reservation at what would become South Dakota. At first Copway selected all of what is now east South Dakota. However, during the 1850's he changed his selection to all of what is now west South Dakota. American leaders agreed with Copway's conception and established Great Sioux Reservation for Ojibwa's and other natives. However, American leaders broke treaty and fragmented Great Sioux Reservation into several smaller Reservations in the 1880's. Many other large Reservations were established and were also fragmented. Navajo Reservation is an Ojibwa Reservation. Papago Reservation is an Ojibwa Reservation. At this time Ojibwa leaders must petition American leaders for land additions to existing Reservations and to return Reservation land that was illegally allotted. Protected land like parts of National Forests, National Parks, Grasslands, ect. Adding large portions of the protected land to Reservations is strongly suggested. Remember that white leaders are suppose to prove to Native Americans that whites are the brothers and sisters of Native Americans.
