It is a cdp (census designated place) covering 31.6 sq. mi., where at least 498 housing units are located. Many of the housing units are mobile homes. Native Americans (predominantly Anishinabe or Shoshone Ojibway's and Arapaho) including mixed bloods and Hispanics, make up 86% of the cdp's population. Whites make up 18% of the cdp's population. The whites are largely concentrated in the area near the white city of Riverton. The citizens of this scattered area are doing poorly economically. Around 45% of the population lives below the poverty line. The population of Arapahoe, as of the 2010 census, is 1,656. The beautiful area has a high elevation. It is 5,003 feet above sea level. Arapahoe is located about 6 miles to the southwest of the white city of Riverton and about 1 mile west of the settlement of St. Stevens. Zip code is 82510.
