It is the largest community within Blood Reserve (it supposed to be adjacent to Blackfeet Reservation) and it's capitol. Chief Rocky Boys son or grandson was born at this Ojibwa Reserve. I have no idea what the population of Stand Off is. Using google earth I counted over 200 housing units. Since the Reserve has a population of 4,572 according to 2021's census and an average household size of 3.9 persons per housing unit, the population of Stand Off is probably between 700 and 900. Stand Off has the appearance of a town. There is a school, the government buildings, health centre, and a few business establishments within the community. Some of the community's residents probably work at Fort MacLeod which is about 18 miles to the north. A few may even work at Lethbridge which is 25 miles to the northeast. Below are several google earth photos of Stand Off, Alberta.
