Birdtail, Manitoba


Located in west-southern Manitoba, about 20 miles from Saskatchewan, is the Ojibway settlement of Birdtail which is within Waywayseecappo Reserve. Below are links to google earth photos of Birdtail. Latest population estimate (2016) can help determine this small Ojibway towns population. Canada does not provide populations for Reserve towns. Only Reserves. Using google earth i counted around 70 or so housing units within Birdtail. Waywayseecappo Reserve has an average household size of 3.2 persons per houseld. Birdtail has a population of over 200. Ojibway Language is no longer spoken at Birdtail. However, less than 10% do know some degree of Ojibway. Ojibway is a language that is almost impossible to learn.
