Box Elder, Montana


Located on the western portion of this Ojibway Reservation (parts of Box Elder extend off Reservation), this CDP (Census Designated Place) of Box Elder, can confuse you. Below is a link to a map of this Ojibway CDP and links to google earth photos of Box Elder. Just south of Box Elder, is probably what most think of as Box Elder. However, it is not. It's known as Rocky Boy West. It's population is near 1,000. According to 2010's census, Box Elder has a population of 87. Box Elder CDP has a total of 35 housing units with about 3/4 occupied, which gives Box Elder an average household size of around 3.3 persons per housing unit. Native Americans including mixed bloods and Mexicans, make up 65% of this cdp's population. Whites make up 34% of it's population.
