Dunseith, Turtle Mountain Reservation

Dunseith is second largest city of Ojibway's Turtle Mountain Reservation. Below are links to google earth photos of Dunseith, North Dakota. Though whites claim that Dunseith is a white community it's not. Population of Dunseith is 632 according to 2020's census, with 84.5% Ojibwa and 11.1% white. Mixed bloods 4.0%. Mexicans 1.3%. This city has numerous business establishments which offers jobs to residents of this small city. It's supposedly off Reservation. Little Shell was not an authentic Ojibwa leader. He was put in power by white leaders to do what white leaders wanted. His grandfather was probably the first of the Little Shell's to be bribed into doing what whites wanted. He was probably bribed in the 1790's. Whites awarded him a medallion and also a medallion to his son. Little Shell proudly showed off his medallion. That's why we know he was not an authentic Ojibwa leader. As long as if he was paid enough he'd do what white leaders wanted. Most important was illegally signing treaties. He was fortunate he wasn't butchered to death. Authentic Ojibwa leaders hated Little Shell and family. They had been killing them as far back as the 18th century. Dunseith has an elevation of 1,706 feet above sea level. It's a kind of hilly location. Zip code is 58329. Around 36% of it's population lives below poverty line. It has a land area of 1.0 sq. mi. or 2.59 sq. km. Dunseith has 299 housing units with 274 lived in. Average household size is 2.7 persons per household. Slightly east of Dunseith, is one of Turtle Mountain Reservation's housing clusters. It's known as Dunseith Homesite. It is not a part of Dunseith's population.
