It is a cdp (census designated place) covering 32.4 sq. mi., where at least 391 housing units are located. The cdp is predominantly Anishinabe. Native Americans (predominantly Anishinabe) including mixed bloods and Hispanics, make up 96% of the cdp's population. Whites make up 3% of the cdp's population. Ethete is located 5 miles east of Fort Washakie. The citizens of Ethete are doing poorly economically. Around 34% of the population lives below the poverty line.
