This city is located on the northern fringe of the Fort Belknap Reservation. It's almost a border town! Harlem is about three miles north of Fort Belknap Agency. The 2020 population of Harlem was 769. Native Americans make up 61.5% of the population. Whites 29.0%. Mixed bloods 7.2%. Mexicans 4.7%. Asians 0.5%. Fort Belknap Agency is a small community with a lack of businesses which leads to many natives from the two communities south of Fort Belknap Agency moving to nearby Harlem to find employment. A total of 359 housing units are in the city which gives Harlem a 2.2 persons per housing unit average. Harlem covers 0.4 sq. mi. Zip code is 59526. Elevation is 2,365 feet above sea level. About 23% of the citizens of the city live below the poverty line. Harlem has a climate directed by it's elevation which is over 2,000 feet above seal level. Summers are hot as a result of it's lower elevation and winters colder as a result of it being further away from the warming effects of Chinook Winds.
