Starr School, Montana


Located on the southern portion of the Blackfeet Reservation, about five miles due west of Browning, is the Anishinabe CDP (census designated place) of Star School. It has a population of 252 according to the 2010 census. Around 97% of the CDP's population is Native American, while around 2% is non Indian. The total area Star School covers is 4.1 sq. mi. There are 67 housing units in the settlement. It gives Starr School around a 3.5 persons per housing unit average household size. Many of the CDP's citizens are supposedly doing well financially. You can't tell by looking at the pictures below. You get another impression. However, Browning is a short drive away. Around 20% live under the poverty line.
