Turtle Lake, Jocko Reservation

This Jocko Reservation CDP (Census Designated Place) is located 5.1 miles or 8.2 kilometers northeast of Pablo. Below are links to google earth photos of Turtle Lake. This small Ojibway Town is located near and around a small lake also named Turtle Lake. According to 2020's census Turtle Lake has a population of 251. Natives make up 73.7% of it's population. MIxed bloods 15.1%. Whites 11.2%. Mexicans 3.6%. There are over 60 housing units. I would estimate whites own at least 10 of them. Average household size is near 4.1 persons per household. Many of the housing units located around and almost adjacent to Turtle Lake (the lake - they number near 20) are owned by whites. A few natives own houses at that location. Most live just north of Turtle Lake (the lake) adjacent to Blacktail Street, Whitetail Street, Wolverine Lane and adjacent Turtle Lake Loop. There's around 40 housing units located there. It has an appearance of a town. Turtle Lake has a land area of 0.6 sq. mi. or 1.5 sq. km. Elevation is 3,097 feet above sea level or 944 meters. Flathead Lake is north by 1.7 miles or 2.7 kilometers. On Turtle Lakes east are Mission Mountains. A very scenic mountain range.
