Inaja and Cosmit Indian Reservation of San Diego County
It was established in 1875 for Diegueno and Kumeyaay. Both are Mexican-Opata or as they are known now Uto-Aztecan. Their language was classified by Garcia Cubas as Opata-Pima. Land of this Reservation is very unappealing. It is all mountainous, with only a couple of possible locations to establish villages. Their locations are near 4,000 feet above sea level which means they have winters there. There is a dirt road leading to and through their domain. Ojibway Traditionalists must try to align Inaja-Cosmit Reservation, with Captain Grande Reservation, which is 5.2 miles to their southwest. There are two parcels of land that make up this Reservation that covers 880 acres. No Indians live at this Reservation. It's really a part of a very large Reservation created on January 5 and January 7 of 1852. It continues to be legitimate.
