Pechanga Indian Reservation
It was supposedly established on June 27, 1882. Below are several links to google earth photos of photographs of Pechanga Reservation of California. In 1869, white invaders petitioned California State Government to force Temecula (Luiseno) Indians out of Temecula Valley where they lived at that time. Luiseno People are Mexican-Opata or as they are now known Uto-Aztecan. Garcia Cubas classified their language as Comanche-Shoshone or Shoshonean which is Ojibway. On January 5 and January 7 of 1852, a very large Reservation was created. American leaders forced them to leave that location where Hemet, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Perris (it's adjacent to San Jacinto River on it's north), San Jacinto and Temecula are. They were forced to relocate to their current locations (Pechanga and Soboba Reservations and Little Shell Valley or Coachella Valley). Those communities are yet within 1852's large Reservation, excepting Perris or most of Perris. That is what led those white invaders to petition for relocation. California District Court in San Francisco, granted a decree in 1873. In 1875, American's commenced to illegally force Luiseno People to gather their belongings to leave Temecula Valley. It took three days to evict all Luiseno People. They relocated to California's secluded Little Rockies Mountain Range a little to their south, which offered them some form of protection. Many probably fled to Mexico. Same thing happened at Soboba. What really occurred was Luiseno People opting to cling to their Indian identity rather than assimilate into white population. Today, Pechanga Indian Reservation of Riverside County, covers 5,500 acres or 2,225.7 hectares. It has a population of 467. Native Americans including mixed bloods and Hispanics, number 451, while whites number 83. Blacks number 1, while Asians number 26. To find out about Pechanga Reservations real history, we have to investigate two treaties signed in 1852. One was signed on January 5 of 1852 and another on January 7 of 1852. It created a very large Reservation that is yet legitimate.
